What do I do with the chip in the number envelope?

Your number envelope has your race number which must be pinned, by 4 pins, into the upper front of your chest. The chip is used to provide your finish time for the race. Take the cable tie and the chip and follow the instructions to attach this to your shoe. Do NOT put your laces through the chip – USE the cable tie. At the finish, and after you receive a bottle of water, a piece of fruit, and a finisher medal, you will continue forward to have the chip CUT from your shoes. This means cutting the cable tie. If you tie your laces through the chip the volunteers will cut your laces. There is no time to undo laces because of the numbers of runners. Only runners who return the chip will receive a medal.
