Rules and Regulation
Event rules & guidelines applicable to all participants
The following event rules and guidelines are intended to help produce and direct a large scale event, to insure the safety of all participants, to meet the requirements of local governments permits, the Jordan Athletic Federation, and the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) regulation for participant performance records and event liability.

Registration

Conditions of entry
The Amman International Marathon is organized in accordance with the regulations of the Jordan Athletics Federation and the IAAF, We point out that the conditions of participation are accepted by the participant by signing the entry form

  • There will be no registration on race day.
  • All entry fees are not refundable and not transferable to future races
  • Registration on line will be closed on Oct 5th 2009.
  • Registration is only possible until October 5th 2009, after this date late registration is only possible at the Marathon Village Expo (king Hussein Park) from 13th, 14th 15th and 16th October. All participants who have registered at Expo after October 5th 2009 will pay extra fee.
  • Registration changes or cancellation will not be accepted after October 5th.
  • Registration fee do not include pasta dinner.
  • Each runner must sign his\her registration form waiver.
  • A valid identity card should be enclosed with the registration form.
  • Numbers will be delivered to registered runners only unless registered runner wishes to have another individual pick up his\her package and must provide that individual with his\her purchase ticket.
  • Participant under 16 years old should have the signature of a parent or legal guardian on the registration form in order to participate.
  • Registration will be canceled for none paid participant till October 5th.
  • Once the registration form has been duly processed, there will be no fee refund for those participants who eventually do not take part for whatever reason.
  • The Organizers reserves the right to cancel or postpone the race without any prior notification, in which case, the registration fees are non-refundable.
  • A list of participants will be posted on our website.

Timing Chip and Bib number

  • All participants must fasten their timing chip to their shoelace with the provided chip tie. All timing chips will be collected immediately after crossing the finish line.
  • Participants may not exchange or give away his\her race bib number to any other person. Exchanging or giving away numbers is strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification and or banning from future races.
  • Participants must pin their bib number on front of their t-shirt.
  • Only participants wearing the provided timing chip and number will be timed and included to the race results.

Day of the race

  • You must be in good health and physically prepared to undertake the challenge to participate in the race.
  • All participants are responsible for knowing the races starting time and the check in method for their start corral.
  • All participants must be positioned behind the line when starting the race.
  • Participants must stay on the official course at all times it’s the responsibility of each participant to know the course and follow the coded signs please see the course map to learn the course before race day, any participants leaved the course will be automatically disqualified.
  • Runners must stay on the right shoulder of the road and with in the permitted area so that runners coming to your left have a clear lane. Do not cut in front of another runner until you can safely do so, if you decide to slow down or stop gradually veer to the edge of the road.

Cancellation and disqualification policy

  • Athletes who participate in this competition may be subject to formal drug testing in accordance with the IAAF regulation rule 144. Athletes found positive for a banned substance or refused to be tested will be disqualified from this event and will lose eligibility for future competition.
  • The race director reserve the right to disqualify any individual who dose not comply with the rules, caught cheating.
  • Participant found to be wearing more than one timing device during the race will be disqualified and their results will not be recorded.
  • Any runner found cheating on the course would be disqualified from this run and future races.
  • Taking a ride between timing stations will result in the disqualification of runners from this run and all future runs.

General Information.

  • Runners must fill out medical information on the back of their running number (such as blood group and sensitivity to any drug).
  • Runners who fail to run the 42km must not approach the finish line uncompleted distance will not qualify for ranking, medals or certificates.
  • Runners should not approach or cross the finish line twice.
  • The number must be visible at all times especially as the runner’s approaches time-keeping stations and the finish line.
  • If participant chooses to continue running after 2:00pm they shall do so at their own risk.
  • No time will be recorded after 2:00pm.
  • Do not cut or fold the number or remove the bar code.
  • All runners must be courteous to the organizing committee, volunteers and the police. Please follow directions and stay out of the restricted areas.
  • The organizing committee has the right to close all water and timing stations after the end of the specified time.
  • No bicycles, roller blades, skate boards, and animals will be allowed on the race course at any time NO exceptions.
  • The Jordan Athletic Federation will provide the events referees.
  • Results will be posted within two weeks from the events date. www.amman-marathon.com
  • Runners who are unable to complete the race and need to be transported to the finish line are kindly asked to wait for the official bus to pick them up.

The course and stations

  • The route will be marked every 1km.
  • The course closes at 12:00 am on Friday and opens on Saturday 2:00 pm.
  • Water station will be on the gathering, starts, every 2.5km on the route and at the finish line.
  • First aid and ambulances stations are available along the course and at the finish line.
  • Toilets are available on the start point of the 42km, 10km, the 4.2km, along the route and the finish line.
  • All runners can leave their bags and personal belongings in the luggage buses these should be labeled with the name and running numbers the luggage may be picked from the luggage booth located at the finish area.

Waiver for all participants

  • I the undersigned, desire to participate in the Amman International Marathon in Amman, Jordan which is organized in accordance with the regulations of the Jordan Athletics Federation and the IAAF I acknowledge that running has inherent dangers and can be dangerous sport. I assume responsibility for all risks of running along roadways. I hereby release any and all rights and claims I have against the organizers of the Amman International Marathon, and all other organizations related to the event within (but not limited to) the city of Amman, liabilities or cause of action of any nature, including those arising from negligence on the part of any of the aforementioned persons or entities, any and all injuries to me or my properties, or any damage caused by me or by anyone else (including natural incidents) while participating in this event. I assume and will pay any and all medical and emergency expenses in the case of an accident and or illness regardless of whether I have authorized these payments.
  • I grant full permission to the organizers to use any photographs videotapes or any other records of this event for advertising and promotional purposes.
  • I hereby certify that I am in good health and that I have trained to run the distance of the race I signed up for. I also certify that I have read and understood all the rules of the marathon.
